Biking the Roanoke Valley Greenways

Biking on the Greenway

Over 30 miles of paved space make the Roanoke Valley Greenways one of the best options for biking in Virginia's Blue Ridge.

A variety of communities and neighborhoods offer easy access to the Greenways, which is part of why it's such a popular activity for locals, visitors, and various group bike rides.

The urban trails are built on relatively flat terrain and connect to many of the region's public parks and playgrounds. Taking a break for a picnic in the park or spending some time at a playground is a great way to enjoy a biking outing with kids on the greenways.

The easy riding provides a pleasant experience for riders of all skill levels.

A large portion of the system is located within close proximity to the Roanoke River, offering opportunities to take in the beautiful views of the water and also observe local birds and wildlife that create habitats along the water.
