The Star Line Trolley is a free trolley service offered in the City of Roanoke.
The trolley is operated by Valley Metro as part of the city's public transportation system and connects the Historic Market District of Downtown Roanoke to the nearby Crystal Spring Neighborhood, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute.
The Star Line Trolley has a unique look and title that celebrates Roanoke's distinct title of being known as "The Star City of the South."
The following map of the Star Line Trolley was prepared by the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission.
Popular spots along the trolley's route include the many restaurants of Downtown Roanoke, the Historic Roanoke City Market, the downtown branch of the Roanoke Public Library, nearby Roanoke River Greenway, and the first-class medical facilities of the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
It's also widely used by students of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Jefferson College of Health Sciences.
The trolley operates Monday - Friday, from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Service to stops is provided every 15 minutes. From 10:00am to 2:00pm, service is provided every 12 minutes.
There is no charge to ride the trolley.
