Tourism is BIG business! 2015 was another consecutive record-breaking year for Virginia's Blue Ridge. Combined investments from the five local governments (Cities of Roanoke and Salem and the Counties of Roanoke, Botetourt and Franklin) contributed to the economic growth of the region.

The theme for 2015 was Building Destination Partnerships producing two major milestones with the formation of the new Virginia Mountains Region, as designated by the Virginia Tourism Corporation, and the development of the Destination Vision planning process, led by the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (RVCVB) to maintain a solid path of growth for tourism and economic development in Virginia's Blue Ridge.

For the sixth consecutive year Virginia's Blue Ridge saw record-breaking growth in hotel room demand and hotel rooms sold resulting in an increase in visitor spending and an increase in jobs created. The RVCVB was only able to accomplish these record results with support from the local jurisdictions and over 1,000 tourism industry partners.
