The Southwest Virginia Ballet (SVB), founded in 1990, is a premier youth dance company based in Roanoke, Virginia. Dedicated to providing high-quality dance training and performance opportunities, SVB serves young dancers across Southwest Virginia with classes in classical ballet, modern dance, and contemporary dance. The organization’s mission is to make the performing arts accessible, offering free pre-professional training and community outreach for underserved groups.
SVB is renowned for its annual production of "The Nutcracker", a cherished holiday tradition in Roanoke, featuring original choreography by Artistic Director Pedro Szalay. This performance draws thousands of visitors each year. SVB also presents other timeless works like "Cinderella" and "Romeo & Juliet", showcasing the remarkable talent of its dancers.
