The Roanoke Wedding Network was started in 2011 by Vicki Itson of Simplicity (www.eventsbysimplicity.com). The group was founded as a way for Roanoke’s wedding vendors to meet new people and promote their small businesses. The first event was in a restaurant and a whopping 12 people in attendance. Today, there’s over 200 members of the group with an average of 80-100 people attending each bi-monthly networking reception.
The group is free to join for any Roanoke area wedding vendor, and our networking receptions are always free to attend. We promote networking, socialization and idea sharing. Our goal is to provide networking opportunities for wedding vendors to build their referrals. We welcome new vendors to the area and help promote their business. We’ve added events over the years, all with the goal of promoting our members’ business. We now participate in bridal shows to give referrals to our members, we established a “Winter Wedding Discount” program to promote weddings in off-seasons, and we held the first ever “Wedding Crawl” in downtown Roanoke and were able to highlight over 60 of our members to over 160 people.
