Located less than 5 minutes from downtown Roanoke, the trails at Mill Mountain Park are some of the best in the area. The trails feature Roanoke's highest point - the summit of Mill Mountain (1703 ft.) and the Roanoke Star. This area offers 900 acres of park space atop Mill Mountain, picnic areas, two scenic overlooks, access to additional trails, the Mill Mountain Zoo and the Mill Mountain Discovery Center.

  • Directions: From I-581, take Exit 6 to Elm Avenue. Take Elm Avenue west for approximately .2 miles and turn left on Jefferson Street. Continue approximately 1/4 mile and then turn left on Walnut Avenue. Stay straight on Walnut Avenue as it becomes Mill Mountain Parkway when you begin to go up the mountain. The signs for the park will be on your right.
