Beale’s is a new spot that’s part of the booming craft beer scene in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Located in a historic building that once served as the Hampton Looms woolen mill, the space has been transformed into a beautiful showcase of craft beer and BBQ. It’s the first craft brewery in the Town of Bedford and another fantastic option for craft beer fans who visit this part of the state. Beale’s opened in June and is meant to serve as a family-friendly place where every day is a party and you’ll find the fun in craft beer. There are board games and Jenga blocks, as well as a beautiful outdoor patio that’s pet-friendly. It will also be a spot for live music and special events. It’s a casual atmosphere everyone can enjoy, including the beer options. Beale’s will specialize in German lager style beers that are intended to be approachable, drinkable brews, such as Beale’s Gold - a Helles Lager. Whether you just want to stop in to enjoy a few drinks and relax, or you’ve worked up an appetite for a BBQ feast, you’ve found your treasure at Beale’s! Legend has it that Thomas J. Beale discovered a large treasure while hunting buffalo in the West. He mined the gold, silver and jewels and transported it back to Virginia, where it’s believed he hid it in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bedford County. Learn more about the Beale ciphers and see if you can crack the code and find the treasure! Beale’s also pays homage to the legend by having golden tickets hidden around the brewery, and if you find one, you can turn it in and receive some cool swag. Is Beale’s a brewery? Is it a BBQ restaurant that serves its own beer? It’s a full service brewery, taproom, and BBQ restaurant. So...all of the above! If you’re looking to spend a relaxing day drinking some beers with friends, Beale’s is an ideal spot. If you don’t even like beer but you enjoy delicious BBQ, you’ll also have a great time at Beale’s! The beer menu will feature four flagship brews: Gold - Munich Helles Lager | 4.8%, 13 IBUs Silver - Hefeweizen | 4.8%, 13 IBUs Black - Oatmeal Stout | 4.5%, 27 IBUs Red - Red IPA | 6.7%, 75 IBUs There will also be a rotating variety of other beers, such as an American Style Pale Ale, West Coast Double IPA, and specialty brews. The food menu is built around delicious, authentic, wood-smoked BBQ that’s smoked on location. It’s served Texas meat market style where you order by the pound and is great for sharing. Meats include brisket, smoked turkey, chopped pork, and smoked sausage, as well as other daily specials. Sides include BBQ beans, cole slaw, mac & cheese, pickles, and potato salad. There are also sandwiches made with the different smoked meats and other options for snacking. You can learn more by checking out the menu on the Beale's website. There will also be growlers and packs of beer available for purchase. Pet Friendly? Yes! The outdoor patio located in front of the brewery is a great spot to bring your (leashed) furry friends!
