Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge (VVBR), a destination marketing organization, currently has a full-time (salary/exempt) opening for a Senior Sports Sales and Services Manager.
The Senior Sports Sales & Services Manager plays a key role to promote, market, and sell Virginia’s Blue Ridge as a premier sports event destination to maximize the region’s economic impact through sports travel and tourism. This position is responsible for managing sales activity in an effort to promote the region as the destination of choice for sports events.
The focus of this position is to recruit, plan, manage and oversee regional or national sports events that are suitable for and beneficial to VVBR. This position plays a pivotal role in cultivating strong community relationships. This position is responsible for implementing and executing all planning and management strategies for events that are either owned or supported by VVBR.
Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Tourism or Parks & Recreation with a minimum of four years’ experience in sports sales. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to meet with clients, hospitality industry partners, elected officials and co-workers. Must be highly organized and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. Microsoft Office and CRM system proficiency required. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in order to perform responsibilities related to job functions. Must have ability for local and out-of-town travel and to work flexible hours as needed. Familiarity with youth, amateur and collegiate sports market and tourism industry required.

Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge (VVBR), a destination marketing organization, currently has an opening for a Visitor Services Specialist (part-time, hourly/non-exempt).
This position performs a variety of customer service, receptionist-oriented duties/projects as assigned, with an emphasis on off-premises events. Under the direction of the Visitor Services Lead position, the Visitor Services Specialist will be responsible for supporting Visitor Center operations and the Community Relations department. This position will handle all incoming calls for the VVBR/Visitor Center and greet/assist the general public. The position will also perform database entry for visitor inquiries, walk-in traffic, and partner referrals. This position will handle the preparation for off-premises events including, but not limited to, loading/unloading and set up/disassembly of equipment and materials, as well as greeting and assisting the general public.
High School diploma or GED required. Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Must also have proficient computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. Must be able to quickly adapt to Visit VBR vertical software (CRM) for data entry and reporting. Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, as scheduled. Must be able to lift and handle up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in order to perform responsibilities related to job functions.
