The Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (RVCVB) was recently awarded a VIRGO Award for last year's summer ad campaign, Blue Ridge Standard Time. This prestigious award is presented by the Virginia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (VACVB), an association supporting destination marketing organizations and the development of tourism and travel professionals.
The VIRGO Award is the state travel industry's top prize for advertising and promotions from destination marketing organizations with a budget of over $1 million dollars. The campaign aimed to position Virginia's Blue Ridge as the premier mountain vacation destination choice for summer 2014. The eight-week campaign generated over 40 million exposures within the desired target market, leveraging a value of over $10 million in advertising and marketing.
"We are honored that our travel industry destination marketing organization peers selected Virginia's Blue Ridge for this top 2014 award," stated Landon Howard, RVCVB President. "We appreciate all the hard work that our agency, Mikula-Harris and Access, and RVCVB team put into making this campaign a big success."
