Directions to the Visitor Center

The Virginia's Blue Ridge Visitor Information Center is easy to reach for travelers coming to Virginia's Blue Ridge from any direction.

The following step-by-step directions will guide you to the Visitor Information Center, whether you're traveling from north, south, east or west.

Directions from Interstate 81

• Exit 143 to Interstate 581/Route 220 South
• Exit 5 to Downtown Roanoke
• Merge left onto Williamson Road
• Turn right onto Shenandoah Avenue
• Visitor Center is on the left

Directions from Route 220 North

• The Route becomes Interstate 581 near Downtown Roanoke
• Take Exit 4E/Orange Avenue
• Turn right onto Williamson Road
• Turn right onto Shenandoah Avenue
• Visitor Center is on the left

Directions from Route 460/Orange Avenue

• Turn south on Williamson Road (toward the Berglund Center)
• Turn right onto Shenandoah Avenue
• Visitor Center is on the left

Directions from the Blue Ridge Parkway

• Take the exit at Milepost 120 onto Mill Mountain Parkway
• Proceed 3 miles to the Roanoke Star & Overlook, Mill Mountain Zoo and Discovery Center (left on Prospect Road SE - it's worth a stop!)
• Mill Mountain Parkway turns into JP Fishburn Parkway and then becomes Walnut Avenue
• From Walnut Avenue, turn left onto Jefferson Street and take immediate left onto Williamson Road
• Follow Williamson Road into Downtown Roanoke and turn left onto Wells Avenue
• Turn left onto North Jefferson Street, turn left onto Shenandoah Avenue
• Visitor Center is on the right
