Virginia State Route 122 is a road full of history and beauty. The road starts in Rocky Mount in Franklin County and passes by the Booker T. Washington National Monument and Smith Mountain Lake before leading to the National D-Day Memorial in the Town of Bedford.It's 37 miles from Rocky Mount to Bedford and it takes about an hour to make the drive but you'll want to leave time for the Booker T. Washington Monument, ice cream at Homestead Creamery in Burnt Chimney, and a visit to the lake along the way.
