For swimmers, the department operates two outdoor pools—Fallon Park Pool and Washington Park Pool—ideal for cooling off and enjoying a day in the water during the summer months. Play Roanoke offers a range of paddling programs, including the Intro to Whitewater Paddling 3-part Series, which combines indoor pool clinics with guided river trips, and the Beginner Downriver SUP – James River program, designed for both beginners and experienced stand-up paddleboarders.
