Julie Rickmond

I graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. I work full time as an Art Director for an advertising agency, but I have a passion for fine arts.In my free time I work with various mediums including pastels, oil and acrylic paint, colored pencil, charcoal, pen & ink, and graphic software to create paintings and drawings. I love studying the paintings of the Baroque masters but my subject matter ranges from still life to children's portraits. However, my favorite subject is undoubtedly animals, especially endangered species. I absolutely love working on artwork of animals and as an active volunteer at Mill Mountain Zoo, I try to take as many photos of the zoo animals for reference as possible. I hope to become increasingly active in both the conservation of these magnificent creatures as well as capturing their beauty in my artwork.
