The History Museum of Western Virginia will close operations at Center in Square on October 1, 2016. The Museum is relocating to a shared space with the O. History Museum's exhibits and research library comprise the largest collection of material in the Roanoke Valley devoted solely to tracing human history. Exhibits offer a glimpse of how life was lived in southwestern Virginia, creating a vivid cultural and educational experience. The permanent exhibit at the History Museum, Migrations at the Crossroads of History, incorporates the best interpretive and technical standards. The exhibit reveals 10,000 years of our region's cultural heritage through artifacts that span the whole human experience from prehistoric times to the present day. With a whole new design, new interactive audiovisual features, games, and more, the History Museum's newly completed exhibit is an exciting experience for the whole family.
