At the Floyd Event Center at the EcoVillage, sustainability is a core value, and the LOVEwork exemplifies this commitment. Located on a scenic 75-acre property in Floyd, Virginia, the LOVE sign was crafted using materials sourced directly from the land, reflecting a deep respect for nature. This unique installation is designed to blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment and to evolve naturally over time.
The L in the sign represents the sustainability of the facility. As the ivy grows around the structure, it will become a part of the forest, symbolizing the integration of nature and human creativity. The O stands for the fauna of the area. The hope is that birds will nest in the sign and that wildlife will find ways to interact with it, making it a functional piece of art within the local ecosystem. The V symbolizes the events and people who use the space. The round cutouts are often used as centerpieces during events, representing unity and connection. Lastly, the E ties everything together, symbolizing how sustainability, nature, and community are brought together to create a cohesive experience.
Guests can enjoy this sustainable artwork during their hikes, where it offers a delightful surprise and a deeper connection to nature.
