The Famous Beer Ride is one of the most popular rides for the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club and it highlights much of what makes biking special in Virginia’s Blue Ridge. The 21 mile loop offers some of the most iconic experiences in the region, including riding by the active railroad tracks, Roanoke’s Historic Old Southwest Neighborhood, Mill Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway, the charming Town of Vinton, and all the fun and energy of Downtown Roanoke. The first half of the ride features a couple epic climbs as you make your way to the Blue Ridge Parkway and it also provides some gorgeous views. The route begins and ends at the Gainsboro Parking Garage on Shenandoah Avenue. Once you’ve completed the ride, head back over the railroad tracks to one of the many great local or bars or restaurants in Downtown Roanoke and enjoy a few beers.
