Catrina Fashions, LLC is owned and operated by Genevieve Journell. Although she has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, she was taught sewing at an early age by her mother, a home-ec teacher. Genevieve has sewn for over 40 years, made her first wedding gown in 1985, and opened Catrina Fashions in 1990. She has custom made one-of-a-kind wedding gowns, veils, and special occasion garments as a professional for over 30 years. In addition to custom work, Catrina Fashions provides quality alterations of both formal and non-formal garments.
Custom Design: Custom design services are available for a variety of garments, specializing in one-of-a-kind gowns for bridal and special occasion including wedding gowns, mother of the bride or groom, bridesmaid’s dresses, flower girl dresses, prom dresses and homecoming dresses. In general, six months are needed for the entire design process. If the garment is a wedding gown, please note that if you are having a portrait made ahead of time, then we need to know that date as soon as possible since that is the date to work toward instead of the wedding day. Alterations and Re-Styling: Alteration and pressing services are available for ready to wear gowns and other garments as well as re-styling vintage or other gowns to suit your tastes. As with a custom made gown, if you are having a portrait or other pictures done ahead of the wedding, then please try to have that appointment scheduled prior to your first fitting. The portrait date is considered the wear date and alterations will need to be completed by the wear date instead of the wedding day. Accessories: Accessories are available including specialty headpieces and other jewelry as well as beautiful veils. Gown Preservation: Catrina Fashions can give advice on cleaning and preserving your gown and textiles as well as provide specialty boxes for storing your wedding gown. Wedding Day Assistance: Let Catrina Fashions assist you and your wedding party on your special day. Services offered include: delivery of gowns to your site, on site steaming and pressing, last minute fixes, help with dressing and bustling.
