Hankla's paintings are experiments in rhythm and color. Simple geometry often structures the work, even when it's not readily apparent. Professor of English and creative writing at Hollins University, she has taught filmmaking and cross-media image/word studios as well as creative writing and literature. Often exhibited at regional and national juried shows, her paintings hang in corporate and individual collections.
