The Bradshaw Road route is one of the most popular rides for local biking enthusiasts in Virginia’s Blue Ridge. The 47 mile route is also known as “The Red Mailbox” due to the mail holder located at the peak of the climb. As the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club describes it, seeing who can be the first to get to the red mailbox is the goal. It’s not considered one of the more scenic routes in the region, but the low traffic and low level of difficulty of the climb still make it a wonderful ride. It’s also fun to enjoy the fast ride down Bradshaw Road once you reach the top of the hill. This route begins and ends at Patrick Henry High School and allows riders the opportunity to also see parts of Salem and ride along a portion of the Roanoke River.
