Blue Ridge Literacy is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the achievement of life goals by providing opportunities to strengthen literacy skills to adults in Western Virginia. We offer ESOL classes, tutoring, and citizenship preparation classes for native English speakers and non-native English speakers.
We help over 350 learners every year in our classes and tutoring programs and engage over 150 volunteers. By offering training to all volunteers who come through our door, we ensure that every English language learner receives individualized help to achieve goals such as employment, obtaining a GED, achieving citizenship status, or enrolling in higher education programs.

We embrace differences in race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, language, visible and invisible disabilities, and all the intersecting identities that make Virginians and visitors alike so unique. We believe our differences make us stronger– and better.
