Meander your way toward Claytor Lake State Park, located in the New River Valley, and take time to check out the historic Howe House, which features interactive exhibits that explain the ecology of the lake and the surrounding areas. The beauty to behold along the Blue Ridge Parkway will lead you to a treat for your taste buds with a stop at Nancy’s Candy Co. in Meadows of Dan. You’ll also want to make a stop at Mabry Mill at Milepost 176, one of the most photographed spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This historic site features the opportunity to watch live activities, such as the spinning of wool or a blacksmith display, as well as dining at the popular Mabry Mill Restaurant, known for its delicious buckwheat pancakes. For a scenic view, don’t miss the Saddle Overlook at the Rocky Knob Recreation Area at Milepost 167 on the Parkway.
