Sports Events Hosted in Virginia's Blue Ridge

The Roanoke Valley in Virginia's Blue Ridge has hosted some the premier sporting events in the country.

It's an impressive resume of players and teams who have competed in various events and tournaments in Virginia's Blue Ridge, and we look forward to seeing the list continue to grow!

  • NCAA Men's Division III Basketball Championship & NCAA Women's Division III Volleyball Championship - Salem Civic Center

  • International Quidditch Association's Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship - Green Hill Park

  • Amateur Softball Association of America National Championships - Botetourt Sports Complex

  • CIAA Football Championship - Salem Stadium

  • USTA Mid-Atlantic Mixed 18 & Over Virginia Regional League Tennis Championship - River's Edge Sports Complex

  • Amateur Softball Association of America National Championships and Virginia Dixie Youth Baseball State Championships - James I. Moyer Sports Complex

  • Scott Robertson Memorial Golf Tournament, a recognized annual event by the American Junior Golf Association - Roanoke Country Club

  • CIAA Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships - Green Hill Park

  • Annual Women's College Military Appreciation Tournament with teams like Virginia Tech, James Madison, Radford, Liberty, & other Division I Universities - Botetourt Sports Complex

  • National Christian College Athletic Associations Women's Softball World Series - Botetourt Sports Complex 

  • Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon - "America's Toughest Road Marathon"

  • Virginia's Blue Ridge Creature from Carvins Cove - XXC-VA State Championship for Mountain Biking 

  • Features over 20 public, private, and semi-private golf courses.

  • Smith Mountain Lake hosts various fishing and boarding tournaments, including an ESPN BASSmasters Elite Tournament and the Smith Mountain Lake Wakefest

  • Hosts various USSSA youth sports events, including basketball, baseball, and softball. 

  • The Salem Memorial Stadium was host to the 2003 and 2004 ACC Baseball Championships

  • The Roanoke Valley hosts the annual Shamrock Festival, one of the largest nationally-sanctioned USAV tournaments and one of the premier events for junior volleyball players on the East Coast. 

  • The James I. Moyer Sports Complex hosted the U.S. Women's Softball team as part of the team's Aiming for Athens tour in 2004.
