The Gift Niche began in December of 1982 when four mothers came together to share their love of fabulous finds. Each mother wanted to work part time, and they decided that they could do so if they took rotating days to run the store. The store began in a tiny booth in the City Market building. Through the years, the store has evolved as the ownership restructured and its customer base grew. Three of the original owners remain and the store moved to its current location on the corner of Market Square.
The store features anything you could ever want to celebrate your girly girl friendships, the latest in home decor items, and a wide selection of local souvenirs. The Gift Niche has exclusive Roanoke Star souvenirs such as the Tervis Tumbler and Star City Afghan. The store always has the latest fashion jewelry accessories, purses, and Switch Flops. For the collectors, the store keeps a large stock of Jim Shore collectibles, Collegiate Sports items, and general gifts.
