The 33.2 mile Springwood Loop takes you through the historic small towns and beautiful countryside in Botetourt County. The loop begins in Historic Fincastle and leads along Springwood Road, which passes over the James River. From Springwood Road, riders travel south on Route 43 into the quaint Town of Buchanan – a great place to stop for food and check out local shops. The loop continues south on Route 11 out of Buchanan and then connects with Route 640, which is also part of the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail. Route 640 eventually winds back toward the direction of Fincastle and you complete the loop with a short segment on Route 602 and S Church Street to lead back to Main Street in Fincastle. The website link features a helpful PDF map of the loop that was created by the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club.
