The Smith Mountain Lake State Park is located on the second largest freshwater lake in Virginia and has over 27 miles of trails. The trail segments range from half a mile to 3 miles in length and wind through the park’s beautiful hardwood and pine forests, quiet coves, and stunning vistas of the waterfront. The longest trail in the park is Striper Cove, which is 3.1 miles and classified as moderately difficult. Opossum Trot and Tobacco Run offer easy rides along the water, while Chestnut Ridge and Turtle Island are longer trails that can provide more of a challenge. When you’re done riding, cool down at the park’s gorgeous public beach.
