Nancy Rae Brown, born in South Dakota and now living in Virginia, enjoys oil painting. Landscapes and architecture are favorite subjects. For detailed home portrait commissions, she prefers using colored pencil. Nancy's representational, sometimes impressionistic oil paintings are often done with palette knife for texture. Her passion for landscapes, inspired by traveling, culminated in a Best in Show award in the League of Roanoke Artists (LRA) Showcase of Art. She traveled with Studio School Roanoke artists to France, Scotland, the Isle of Sark, and Italy. A highlight of other adventures in art was painting in Monet's garden in Giverny, France, with artists from Pennsylvania. She shows her work in LRA galleries and ArtVisions Gallery & Studio in Westlake at Smith Mountain Lake, VA. One of her landscapes is part of Carilion Clinic's permanent collection in Roanoke.
