Some of the best mountain biking trails in Virginia’s Blue Ridge are located less than 3 miles from Downtown Roanoke in the city’s Mill Mountain Park. The 568-acre mountaintop park features over 10 miles of great single track, which will provide some stunning views of the surrounding Roanoke Valley as well as lead you to the iconic Roanoke Star. The park is also home to the Discovery Center, Mill Mountain Wildflower Garden, multiple picnic areas, and the Mill Mountain Zoo. On the trails, you’ll encounter rocks, switchbacks, and steep climbs that make for a challenging, but extremely rewarding ride. There are multiple trail segments in the park, with some of the most notable being Monument Trail, Star Trail, and Big Sunny Trail. The park is also very popular for hiking and for people with dogs, so please be mindful when riding your bike.
