Waid Park Hike Your Own Hike (HYOH) Challenge scheduled for July 28, is a challenge,depending upon each individual’s fitness level. Waid Park has approx. 11 miles of hiking trails from easy to moderate, to difficult. The Hike Your Own Hike (HYOH) challenge begins in section one where we will hike the easier trails, mostly flat with little to no incline. For hikers who wish to continue on, will move on to the moderate and more difficult trails in section two. The ultimate goal is to challenge as many of the trails as you can. HYOH! You can do part of any of the two sections, or complete the entire 11 miles of trails. Participants must be of Middle School age and older to participate and must be accompanied by an adult, if under 18 years of age. Participants must wear appropriate clothing and shoes for hiking/walking (Sunscreen, hats, bug spray, and sun glasses are recommended). Participants can stop their challenge at any time! Participants challenging the 11 miles, must be able to carry enough water for the full 11 miles, approx. 4-5 hours, and a lunch if they will be on the trail during the noon hour. Registration is required and there is no cost to participate in this challenge.
