In light of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus and the recommendations of federal, state, and local agencies, Poplar Forest is currently closed to the public and this event has been cancelled. We are tentatively scheduled to reopen on April 1st, 2020 and any decisions regarding rescheduling events will be made at that time. Thank you for your patience, support and understanding of our attention to the health and safety of our visitors, employees, and volunteers.
Tour Thomas Jefferson’s octagonal villa and ornamental gardens, an official stop on the Lynchburg Garden Day itinerary, during the Garden Club of Virginia’s Historic Garden Week.
An avid gardener and one of America’s first landscape designers, Jefferson was enthralled by the natural world, recording his ideas in letters and journals for planning and planting the ornamental landscape at Poplar Forest. Discover how he incorporated popular European landscape features in his plans for Poplar Forest and more. The restoration of Jefferson’s ornamental garden and carriage turnaround are official projects of the Garden Club of Virginia.
Admission to Poplar Forest on Garden Day is included in the Lynchburg Garden Day tour ticket. Without a Garden Day ticket, regular admission rates apply.
