Modern, Hard-Bop, Jazz Saxophone
“Redman is adventurous without all the squeals and squawks of other players, adept at writing both lyrically and rhythmically, and knows when the twain should part, creating an episode of engaging storytelling on one tune, circling the head of the tune with just four or ve notes immediately after. “ —Variety
Joshua Redman, son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedro, has assembled a heavy-hitting quartet of musicians to perform original songs and jazz classics. Described as provocative and soulful, Redman’s music links him directly to the authenticity of jazz of the 50s and 60s while incorporating a modern approach to melody and swing. Redman’s passion for creating and performing are undeniable, having performed and collaborated with an impressive roster of talent including Brian Blade, Elvin Jones, B.B. King, Pat Metheny, The Rolling Stones, The Roots, and Stevie Wonder (to name only a few).
