Holiday Candlelight Tours of Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest Thursdays December 1, 8 or 15 at 5:30 p.m. each evening and on Fridays and Saturdays, December 2 & 3, 9 & 10, 16 & 17 at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. each evening. Ring in the holidays with a magical candlelit tour of Mr. Jefferson’s cherished villa retreat dressed for the holidays with greens and other natural materials found on the plantation grounds, as it may have been during Jefferson’s time. These annual and very popular after-hours tours offer an intimate look at how Jefferson and his family and friends may have spent the holiday through anecdotes gathered from the president’s letters and diaries. Guests will also enjoy a selection of period music and holiday classics performed by musicians from Jefferson Forest High School. The tour concludes with a hearth cooking demonstration in Mr. Jefferson’s kitchen. Admission is $20 per person. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Museum Shop at 434.534.8120.
