The Historical Society of Western Virginia invites your company to join us as a sponsor of our “History Is Served” annual event September 21, 2017, at Hotel Roanoke. James “Bud” I. Robertson Jr., author and nationally acclaimed expert on the Civil War, will be the guest speaker. His topic: “What Did Not Happen at Appomattox.” Robertson, Virginia Tech History Department Distinguished Professor Emeritus, has written or edited more than 20 books. His biography of Gen. “Stonewall” Jackson won eight national awards and was the base for the movie, “Gods and Generals.” Robertson was chief historical consultant for the film. The “History Is Served” evening includes a Cash Bar reception at 6, a sit-down dinner at 7 and Silent and Live auctions throughout the evening. This dinner is the Society’s major fundraising event. Its proceeds enable us to offer exhibits and programs at the History Museum of Western Virginia and the O.
