More Information

Festival of India is a daylong event, show casing and highlighting the Indian way of life. There will be non-stop music and dance performances. We will be displaying Indian artifacts. There will be plenty of Indian food delicacies. This Festival gives us an opportunity to showcase our heritage. We play host to the great Roanoke Valley and entire region to display our hospitality and culture.

The culture of India has a long history. For the last 4000 years, it has thrived, all the while absorbing customs, traditions, and ideas from invaders and immigrants. Many cultural practices, languages, customs, and monuments are examples of this co-mangling over centuries. India is a birth place of many religious systems such as Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. Each of these religions has a strong influence not only in India but over the rest of the world. In modern India, there is a cultural and religious diversity. Almost every state is carved out its own distinct identity. In spite of this unique diversity, the whole country is bound as a civilization due to her common history. Indian cuisine offers great variety and each region has its own distinctive flavors.
