Some call them rolling sculptures, others the shape of speed.

Experience 23 legendary vehicles that defined the height of American automotive ingenuity in the new exhibition, DRIVE! Iconic American Cars and Motorcycles, presented by Advance Auto Parts and on view at the Taubman Museum of Art September 8, 2018-February 3, 2019.

The vehicles featured in the exhibition span over a half-century from 1912-1965 and include one-of-a-kind concept cars and celebrity-owned roadsters and motorcycles.

Examples include:

  • 1948 Tucker Torpedo "Tin Goose" Prototype
  • 1959 Chevrolette Corvette Stingray Prototype
  • 1959 Cadillac Cyclone XP-74
  • 1960 Plymouth XNR

DRIVE! Iconic American Cars and Motorcycles is organized by well-known guest curator Ken Gross, former director of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

The Taubman Museum of Art is open Wednesday through Saturday 10 am-5 pm and Sunday 12-5 pm with extended hours until 9 pm on the first Friday of each month.
