Plant yourself in downtown Roanoke on May 10th for the Daisy Art Parade celebrating World Art Day. GIANT PUPPETS and ART will be in the streets...
Everyone is invited!
• Want to join the parade? Find a krewe!
Making art can bring purpose and healing when our lives are stressful. Making art can bring people together, build community, and help communities have common purpose with their neighbors. We want to help the citizens of our city start making community art by making groups that we call krewes. A Krewe is a social group that wants to do something for others, like a barn raising or in this case a float building. You don’t have to be an artist or creative to be in a Krewe, but you should like rolling up your sleeves!
• Make parade art with Roanoke’s Artists in Residence!
This year, we have a team of Roanoke Artists in Residence dedicated to activating five of the city’s focus neighborhoods for the parade. We will be highlighting the ongoing work of these communities and artists, and look forward to seeing what projects will emerge! These Neighborhood Artists and Teaching Artists will be helping Roanoke communities work together to develop parade art and connect neighborhoods through the Daisy Parade and beyond! Our newsletter will share more information about neighborhood events and activations. Learn more here: https://daisyartparade.com/
