CODY JOHNSON FAST RISING COUNTRY ARTIST IS COMING TO SALEM WITH CRAWFORD & POWER AND JOSH WARD
SEPTEMBER 14, 2019
Country singer Cody Johnson, having already drawn comparisons to Garth Brooks for his style of music and rowdy concerts, will make his Salem debut on September 14, as he looks to build on what is already an impressive resume’. Franklin County natives Crawford & Power will join Joshnson on stage, as will Josh Ward.
Before signing with Warner Music Nashville, Johnson put two albums from his own independent label on the Billboard Country Music Top 10 chart. He also managed to sell nearly 74,000 tickets in his home state of Texas for one show, as he sold-out NRG Stadium, where the NFL’s Texans play, for Rodeo Houston.
His musical influences include the likes of Johnny Cash and George Strait, along with Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen and you can hear them all when he sings and plays. His first major label release “Ain’t Nothin’ To It” debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and his music is some of the most watched and downloaded, with streams and views in the millions. His song “On My Way To You” has been viewed nearly six million times on YouTube.
Growing up in Franklin County, Jake Crawford and Ethan Power (Crawford & Power) attended plenty of concerts at the Salem Civic Center. This fall, they will grace the same stage that many of their heroes performed on as they join the lineup for the Cody Johnson and Friends show in the arena on September 14.
“We are so excited to be making our debut at the Salem Civic Center opening for Cody Johnson,” says Jake Crawford, who handles vocals and guitar for the band. “We’ve seen many shows at this venue, so we can’t wait to take the stage this time around.”
Since appearing with Maddie & Tae at Salem’s 2018 Star-B-Q concert at the Salem Farmers Market, the duo has been making a name for itself opening for a who’s who of country music legends. Crawford & Power have played with Travis Tritt, Willie Nelson, The Marshall Tucker Band, Luke Combs and dobro virtuoso, Jerry Douglas.
Cody Johnson will be joined in Salem by Josh Ward. The Houston native started playing local dance halls in 2003, and he has become a music legend in the state of Texas with multiple number one songs on the lone star state’s music charts. He and his band have produced three full-length albums.
