Make Memories with your family during the 28th annual Buchanan Tree Lighting. This family oriented tradition attracts hundreds of residents and visitors from the region who gather around the Town Tree to join in Carols by Candlelight. Activities begin at 7:00 p.m. with the passing of the light by candles followed with everyone singing familiar carols, cheering the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, then, joining in the Countdown to light the Town Tree. The 20+ foot tall Norway Spruce donated by the Tommy Moore Tree Farm is festooned in thousands of tiny clear lights and colorful ornaments placed by volunteers earlier in the week. This Family Friendly tradition provides ample opportunities to make memories and take photos. You are invited to come early to enjoy a Carriage Ride around the block starting at Town Hall. Rides are available from 5:30 pm until 8:30 p.m. Bring your cameras and smart phones to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as family and friend photos in front of the illuminated Town Tree. Following the Tree Lighting, you may also wish to take in a Holiday Classic movie at the Buchanan Theatre starting at 7:30 p.m. It is never too late to start a new family tradition, join Buchanan as we welcome Christmas. (Small Business Saturday activities start at 9:00 a.m. with an outdoor Buchanan Christmas Market from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Merchant Specials and some great places to eat.)
