This year discover the Town that glows with LOVE at Christmas, Buchanan, Virginia. Join us as we celebrate the arrival of Christmas while commemorating the love of those who supplied the Town with jugs of drinking water following the devastating flood of 1985. In 1985 volunteers from the community recycled the plastic one gallon jugs which held water that was donated to the community following the flood which left the Town with no potable water. To show our appreciation of the love shared with our community these volunteers crafted luminaries from these containers and lined Main Street as a 'thank you." Each year Buchanan celebrates the love by placing 1 gallon plastic jug luminaries along Main Street to light the way for Christmas while remembering the love shared with our community 33 years ago. Be part of this uniquely Buchanan tradition. Volunteers gather at 3pm to begin lining the street with luminaries followed by lighting so that everything is aglow by 6pm. Enjoy driving through the Town on Christmas Eve, or, get out of your car and stroll along Main Street to experience the warmth of the Town that glows with LOVE.
