PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Join us at the Mill Mountain Zoo every 3rd Saturday, May-October for a unique opportunity to have breakfast with the animals. Guests will be treated to a light breakfast buffet and the chance to meet one of the zoo’s education outreach animals. This will be immediately followed by a special chat with zookeepers as they amaze our guests with more fun and educational facts about our animal residents. This intimate experience will allow zoo visitors to learn more about various animals’ diets, behavior and personalities. Following the chat, there will be a child-focused and parent-assisted project and activity sheet that will be designed to further foster excitement and knowledge about the featured animals.Remember to make reservations--space is limited! Breakfast with the Animals Schedule: Saturday, May 21-Eat with the Endangered: Mill Mountain Zoo is home to many vulnerable and endangered animals. Enjoy some breakfast, and then learn the stories of some of these animals, why they are endangered and other interesting information as well. After the keeper chat, guests can craft a crumpled tissue paper picture of their favorite endangered animal and do a fun, similarly themed activity sheet. Saturday, June 18- Feast with the Feathered: Mill Mountain Zoo is home to many feathered friends, both large and small. Wouldn’t you like to come and enjoy breakfast and then learn more about these very diverse animals?!? Once the keeper chat is over, children can create some pretty pompom birds of their own and then do an activity sheet themed around our feathered residents. Saturday, July 16- Scarf with the Scaly. Have breakfast, and then get engaged in a keeper chat about our scaly reptile residents, their diets and other remarkable information about them. After the chat, children will be able to design a colorful and 3-dimensional Wax Works reptile to take home. After that, everyone can do a fun reptile themed activity sheet.Saturday, August 20-Treats with Turtles and Tortoises. Have you ever wanted to learn more about the world of testudines?!? Well, come have breakfast and discover all kinds of neat information about our turtles and tortoises. Children will be able to make an adorable egg carton turtle or tortoise to take home and then complete an activity sheet that will get the whole family exploring the zoo.Saturday, September 17-Munch with the Mammals. Have breakfast and then experience a chat with zookeepers as they share information about some of our mammals’ diets and other fascinating information. Once the chat is complete, children will get to do a 3-dimensional Model Magic sculpture of their favorite mammal and then complete an activity sheet that will get the whole family exploring the zoo.Saturday, October 15-Chow Down with the Carnivores. Enjoy a nice breakfast at the zoo and then get to hear a keeper share interesting information about some of the zoo’s meat eaters.
