Bishop, a former Roanoke Times reporter has written a heartfelt story of finding and losing the brother she never knew existed. Factory Man author Beth Macy calls Bishop's book "an openhearted and unflinching look at a family history that is equal parts love story and requiem for a brother she barely knew. Bishop turns her formidable investigative journalism skills inward to unearth long-simmering class and culture divides in bucolic rural Virginia." A Publishers Weekly starred review says "Don't You Ever "took an homest and raw look at [Bishop's] family in this heartbreaking memoir." adding This powerful tale lays bare the xaccer of shame its often devastating results."
