Celebrate the colorful sights and sounds of Mexico with A Salute to Cinco de Mayo at The Coves!

Mariachi Alegría was formed in 2023 to perform and promote the musical art form that was developed in Mexico known as mariachi. In just a short period of time, the group has grown to 26 members and has played extensively in the Roanoke area delighting audiences with the powerful renditions of the finest in mariachi tradition. The vast majority of the members had never performed mariachi music and, in fact, several had never played a mariachi instrument before. Yet from its beginning, the group has developed a large repertoire of exciting, high energy mariachi standars commonly performed by mariachi bands across Mexico. This concert will feature the band at its finest and will include violins, trumpets, guitars, vihuelas, guitarrones, accordions, marimbas and powerful vocals. There will be authentic folkloric dancers in stunning costumes that will provide breathtaking dance routines direct from Mexico. The group excels in presenting the power and joy of this culture and its great musical contribution to the world stage. Join us for an amazing concert and musical journey to Mexico.

The Mexican Folklore Dance Team was founded in 2023, inspired by the vision and passion of Sarita. With her dream as our foundation, the team is now co-led by Miguel Mendoza and Dream Dance Studio. Together, we celebrate the beauty of Mexican culture while creating a space for creativity, community, and pride.

Through the art of dance, we aim to preserve and share the rich heritage of Mexican traditions, colors, and rhythms. With every performance, we bring to life the beauty and history of Mexico’s diverse regions.
