May is full of incredible live music in the Roanoke Valley in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.

You can find a concert or performance at a different venue almost every night of the month, offering a wide-ranging mix of musical styles and genres.

We’re also entering the time of year when many of our great local outdoor music venues regularly host festivals and shows, as well as weekend music festivals for multiple days of great tunes and dancing.

Two of the major music festivals taking place in Virginia’s Blue Ridge this month are Festival in the Park in Downtown Roanoke and the Chantilly Farm Bluegrass & BBQ Festival, which are both over Memorial Day Weekend. Festival in the Park is headlined by Blue Oyster Cult, while The SteelDrivers are the headline show for the Bluegrass & BBQ Festival.

You can also join the fun of recurring concert series like Flat Pickin’ Fridays at Daleville Town Center, Old Time Weekly Jam Sessions at the City Market Building, Battle of the Bands at The Phoenix, Friday Night Jamborees at the Floyd Country Store, and Live Music Sundays at Beliveau Estate Winery.
