It's official! Deschutes Brewery is coming to Roanoke in Virginia's Blue Ridge!

At a press conference on Tuesday afternoon hosted by the Roanoke Regional Partnership and City of Roanoke at the City Market Building, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe announced the brewery has selected Roanoke as the location of its new East Coast distribution center.

Deschutes Brewery is a popular, Oregon-based craft brewing company from Bend, Oregon that is expanding to serve more East Coast markets.

Founded in 1988 as a small pub in downtown Bend, Deschutes Brewery has grown to become one of the biggest producers of craft beer in the United States. According to the company's website, it sold more than 250,000 barrels of beer in 2012.

Deschutes Brewery is well-known for a rich variety of award-winning beers, including its Black Butte Porter, one of the most popular porters in the United States. It also received a gold medal at the 2010 Great American Craft Beer Festival for its Mirror Pond Pale Ale.

It will be a great addition to a craft brewery scene that has exploded in Virginia's Blue Ridge over the past decade, providing potential travelers another reason to visit the region for a beercation!
