The 2017 Down by Downtown Music Festival will bring three days of great live music to Downtown Roanoke in Virginia’s Blue Ridge!
This annual festival, presented by the Roanoke Outside Foundation takes place April 20-22 and will feature over 30 acts and performances at 10 different venues in Roanoke’s vibrant downtown district.
There will be many opportunities to attend free concerts and shows, and if you’re a music fan, this is the perfect time for a weekend getaway to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This year’s festival is headlined by Lotus, which will perform on Saturday night (April 22) in Elmwood Park, downtown’s beautiful outdoor amphitheater.
Known for its unique blend of jam sounds and electronic dance rock, Lotus has become a popular band on the festival circuit and has toured around the world. Lotus is highly regarded for its live shows, both for distinct musical style and impressive light displays. The band’s musical influences include The Orb, Talking Heads, and Beck.
The Saturday night headline show will open with Hayley Jane & the Primates at 5:30 p.m., followed by Broccoli Samurai at 7:00 p.m., and Lotus takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:00 p.m.
General Admission tickets to the show are $24 advance and $28 at the gate. If you’re participating in the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon, tickets are available for $18. Click here to purchase tickets.
In addition to the Saturday evening show, Elmwood Park will host multiple free performances throughout the festival, including a Friday night concert by MC Broom & the Jam that begins at 5:30. It’s a great way to spend a fun evening with family and friends in Downtown Roanoke!
When you’re not in Elmwood Park, check out many of the other awesome live music venues that are participating in the festival, such as Martin’s Downtown Bar & Grill, The Spot on Kirk, and Wall Street Tavern. There will be a variety of musical genres available, ranging from country and blues to reggae and funk.
