Capturing photos of beautiful fall colors is one of our favorite parts of the season in the Roanoke Valley in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
Whether it’s a view of the surrounding ridgeline from the perfect spot in the valley, a scenic overlook from a mountaintop summit, or a glimpse of a waterfall framed by fall color, there are so many gorgeous scenes that highlight fall in Virginia’s Blue Ridge.
Visitors from around the world make their way to the region during the autumn months to experience things like a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, fishing at Smith Mountain Lake, or a variety of other outdoor activities.
Fortunately, many of those visitors and locals share photos of their adventures on Instagram and let us know about them by using our #BlueRidgeDay hashtag.
It’s a fun challenge to sort through all the gorgeous pictures captured during a #BlueRidgeDay and we’re always amazed at the beautiful images people share with us.
The changing colors of the leaves throughout the region over the past few weeks have provided some great opportunities for photos, and here are 10 shots we noticed that highlight the incredible beauty of a fall getaway to Virginia’s Blue Ridge.
