The addition of Amtrak passenger train service to Downtown Roanoke has made Virginia's Blue Ridge even more accessible as a getaway destination for visitors from Northern Virginia.

This includes readers of Alexandria Living Magazine, who will learn about the region in a new feature showcasing many of the unique experiences visitors will find in Virginia's Blue Ridge.

The story, titled "Roanoke: All Aboard for Virginia's Blue Ridge" was written by Chris Militzer, a travel journalist and photographer who recently visited the region as part of a media tour hosted by Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge.

His visit to the region included arriving via Amtrak from Alexandria and then spending multiple days enjoying various activities in the area, including checking out local breweries, staying at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, attending a Salem Red Sox game, and hiking at Roaring Run.

In addition to the story, Militzer was also active on social media during his visit, posting multiple photos that received great engagement.
