March 9, 2016 - The Roanoke Regional Partnership and Virginia's Blue Ridge announced that downtown Roanoke will be hosting the inaugural Virginia's Blue Ridge Twilight Criterium on May 21, 2016.  This fast-speed bicycle race, otherwise known as a 'crit', will bring around 100 seasoned riders to compete in a three-quarter-mile loop around the streets of downtown Roanoke for a $15,000 purse.

"Landon Howard, President of the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (RVCVB), stated, “Virginia’s Blue Ridge Criterium presents a tremendous opportunity for the region to drive economic development, promote tourism, and showcase the area as a premier biking destination to visitors.
