Virginia's Blue Ridge is the perfect destination for a metro mountain adventure, as Anna Hammerschmidt with Come Join My Journey recently learned.

She visited the region as part of a media tour hosted by Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge, and as a result, recently produced a piece titled "Things to Do in Virginia's Blue Ridge: Metro Mountain Getaway" on her website.

The article offers readers tips on many fun things to do during a visit to the Roanoke Valley in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, such as biking on the Roanoke Valley Greenways, shopping at Black Dog Salvage, boating at Smith Mountain Lake, and sampling the craft spirits of Franklin County - The Moonshine Capital of the World.

Here's an excerpt from the story:

"One of the best ways to explore Roanoke is biking the Greenway Trail. You can rent a bike from Roanoke Mountain Adventures and pedal along the Roanoke River on the Roanoke Valley Greenway Trail. There are plenty of places to stop along the Greenway Trail including Blue Cow Ice Cream and Starr Hill Pilot Brewery and Side Stage. Biking allows you to cover a lot of ground and to leisurely enjoy Roanoke."

There were also multiple Instagram posts showcasing Virginia's Blue Ridge.

Just fly away ✈️ •••••••••• Landing in Virginia’s Blue Ridge, it was easy to see why the outdoors are this regions major draw. The natural landscape is beautiful and offers so many wonderful activities (hiking, mountain biking and more). Yet, I soon discovered that there is so much more to this region. Downtown Roanoke has some incredible shops, restaurants and museums. We spent some time checking out these museums, our first stop was @taubmanmuseum . I loved the variety of art on display here. Yet, my favorite piece is the “Flower Bomber” plane hanging in the lobby of the museum. @visitvbr #trailsetter #blueridgeday
