Visit Poplar Forest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to experience Mr. Jefferson's home with period inspired holiday decorations. Listen to Christmas music by a string quartet from E.C. Glass High School from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Living history interpreters will be in Jefferson's kitchen discussing techniques for cooking from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children will enjoy storytelling from Jefferson's time and other hands-on activities, and enjoy live demonstrations from craftspeople displaying and making historic wood products.

The Poplar Forest Museum Shop will be open for holiday shopping with 25% off everything in the store! Be sure to join us for this special Holiday Open House. The last tour leaves at 3:00 p.m. and reservations are not required.

The holiday spirit doesn't stop there. For the first time ever, take a tour of Jefferson's retreat between Christmas and New Year's! Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest will be open to the public from December 26 through December 30. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last tour leaving at 3 p.m. daily. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your friends and family to one of Virginia's most unique and important historic homes and discover why Mr. Jefferson viewed the house as his personal retreat. Poplar Forest is a National Historic Landmark recently added to the United States nominations to become a World Heritage Site. The property is regarded as an important example of historic restoration and archaeological research, and is open for tours, events and school programs.
