NW1218 Night Photoshoot

Winston spoke frequently of his favorite Norfolk & Western locomotive; the 1218.  In honor of Winston's love and dedication to this marvel of engineering, the beloved 1218 will make the trek from her home at the Virginia Museum of Transportation for visit to The Passenger Station on January 24th.  Be sure to checkout our facebook page for updates on the movement and watch via Roanoke's Railcams!

We will be hosting a night photoshoot from 9pm to midnight on January 24th, space is limited so reserve your place now!  Contact Amber Carter: acarter@linkmuseum.org or 540-982-5465 to get signed up!

(Note:  For those fans planning to come and watch the movement, please be cautious!  The safest places for photography are The Martin Luther King Memorial Bridge & The Williamson Road Bridge.  Be sure to give the great folks from NS and the VMT volunteers plenty of space so we can all stay safe!  We will post time details on our facebook page to keep everyone informed as to the movement times.)

Raymond Loewy : Lithographs

It's a celebration!  How could we forget the man who turned our passenger station into the sleek modern building we love today, the Father of Industrial Design, Raymond Loewy.

On display beginning January 24th, a collection of Raymond Loewy Lithographs and an original Loewy Designs Portfolio Case.

Our permanent exhibition Raymond Loewy : Designer for a Modern Era is open from 9-5 seven days a week & free of charge in our Norfolk Southern Lobby.

Link : Commercial

The O. Winston Link Museum has worked the past decade towards to preservation and exhibition of the photographic works created by O. Winston Link.  Visitors come from all over the world to experience the famous & inimitable railroad photographs held within our gallery walls.  But, Winston's photography doesn't stop with his famed N&W Project.  Not by a long shot! In fact, it was his commercial photography and the Westinghouse Factory in Staunton that brought Winston to Southwest Virginia.  Who could have thought that air-conditioners would launch what would eventually become over 2,500 photographs of the Norfolk & Western Railway?!

Please join us on January 24th & 25th to view this stunning collection of Winston's commercial photography.  Here's a sneak peak.  (We couldn't resist)

Sincerely,

Mike McNeil
